Ministry and Hashtags

LIfe is too good.  I mean I already know all that I am about to say but I am going to write all the things God has blessed me with so I don’t ever forget them.  Obviously we are in the Philippines, a blessing in itself.  But also our new “compound”  is nicer then my house in America.  First things first though, introduction to my new team!

My new team name is team isREAL.  We really wanted to stress the idea of our team being real with each other and not putting on a mask to hide our scars.  Also Caitlinn had been reading up on Israel in the Bible, they’re God’s chosen people and no matter how many times they fell away from God he always came back for them. From left to right in the picture. Oh and side note, everyone on our team has a hash tag.  I realize a lot of old people read my blog, cough cough, my parents.  So here is a definition of a hash tag. A tag embedded in a message posted on the Twitter microblogging service, consisting of a word within the message prefixed with a hash sign.It has no spaces and is simply about the general idea of the twitter post An example would be #teachingoldpeopletechnology #defininghashtags #etcetc

Caroline in the orange- dangerously pretty and dangerously funny.  She is literally not afraid  to say anything, and has such a good sense of humor.  She’s the oldest out of all of us and her life experience definitely shows when we have serious talk during team time.  I really have loved getting to know her.  #sorryijustfarted   Next is Alison.  For those on the Kurtz side of the family just think Jessica’s sense of humor.  This girl is literally hilarious.  She is loved by basically everyone she talks to because she is amazingly sweet in the midst of being so sarcastic.  Also very spiritually mature and super supportive of everyone on the team. #Thatsokay!!!  Then there is me but I really don’t need an intro for you guys… #madawkyo (mad awkward yo)  Then we have my beloved team leader and sister Ellen Hudson.  Because God is so good he blessed me with having the same team leader as my old team.  She is a super strong woman of faith and it very defensive of her babies(us).  She is the best team leader ever even though she gets overwhelmed with all our craziness and has trouble staying up past 10. #teamleaderprobs  Next is Tiffany.  She is a very understanding person who doesn't put up with gossip.  If you have a problem go right to her, she’s not afraid to be extremely real and upfront.  I love it.  She also is crazy athletic and basically could live in the ocean which means we get along very well.  #Allidoiswin   After Tiff we have Caitlinn, my fellow Pennsylvanian.  She also grew up mennonite but independently left.  She has a very rebellious personality, in a good way, and isn’t afraid of what people think of her.  She also has the voice of an angel and a laugh that can literally make everyone stop and smile. #itsabeautifulthing And finally Christy Joy.  She also was on my old team and I am so thankful she is on my team again.  She is absolutely hysterical and can make me laugh in any situation.  She is an expert of keeping a good attitude about everything and helps me have one too.  She also knows the Bible like crazy and encourages me to know it better. #ohbabybaby  All together we make up a group of 7 beautiful warriors of of Jesus Christ.  Although we are all girls, all of us are very very strong in our own ways and are willing to fight physically, emotionally, and spiritually for each other.  They are my new family and I love and appreciate them so much!

Speaking of appreciation, don’t get me started on how much I appreciate this place God put us in.  We have our own room for the 7 of us, each of us have a bed and a closet to share.  We also have AC, our own bathroom with a hot shower and mirrors!!  Go down stairs and we can go to the kitchen for amazing food, go down to the pool to tan, or go to the free gym.  After a workout one would probably be sore, no problem get a 6 dollar hour long massage in the spa that is in our basement.  Our other blessings include a library, a glass prayer room that overlooks the skyline of Manila, wifi, and very close access to a mall and all ministry sites.

Ministry in itself here is the biggest blessing.  Before we arrived I was really feeling called to work with an orphanage.  Here there is an orphanage right down the road that I can walk to.  There also is a house for girls who that have been abused very close by that we get to go to whenever.  On top of that, we are literally connected to a school so we can teach or tutor little kids.  There also is a bunch of other random ministry opportunities, but the ones listed are the ones I’ll be spending the most time working at.  We are thankful for all God has given us.  Please pray that we don’t get distracted and keep our minds on our ministry.  Miss you all!!
